Skymate email/weather31 Oct 2005 14:10 GMT1
I've searched the newsgroups for any real world opinions on Skymate
(http://www.skymate.com) - but, can't really find anything that seems
persuasive.
Is there anyone out there who has experience with the system, or has
Aluminium vs. Fiberglass31 Oct 2005 02:04 GMT14
I am starting a long (years long mind you) search for a boat.  The
length of the search is mostly because my wife and I want to cruise in
about 10 years or so for a number of reason.  It would of course be
cool to cruise now, but the long wait affords me the pleasure of taking

This shows the design of a radar arch for a Mogan  sailboat with a
prototype build from PVC.  It has a nice innovation of seats added to
the pushpit.  Well done....Lots of good size images
38' Pan Oceanic  cutter?? Brewer design??29 Oct 2005 23:35 GMT1
I have a friend who is very interested in a 1984,  38 foot Pan Oceanic
cutter, apparently designed by Ted Brewer. He says he hasn't had much
luck finding information out about the boat in general, like build
quality, comparable selling values, weak points, etc.

GPS  Magellan Meridian29 Oct 2005 13:54 GMT1
Been shopping a portable GPS unit for my newly acquired 25' cruiser.  This
seems to have the right features, i.e. no download (maps included on CD) and
use for road and marine.  Anybody else have good or bad experience with this
unit?

AC-->DC converter for setting up a home "boat"28 Oct 2005 19:03 GMT18
I am trying to find an AC->DC converter so I can turn my enclosed porch
into a "boat".  I would like to run some marine cabin lights, a VHF,
and eventually a SSB radio.  Has anyone done this and can recommend a
particular converter?
Mast Repair28 Oct 2005 18:29 GMT25
While recently lowering my mast it fell forwards partially pulling the
rivets out where the mast joins the bottom bracket. I think that I have
two options to repair this. One is to drilll out the rivets cut off the
botton 1cm ,or so, of the mast to a point just above the old rivets ...
bad place to park a boat28 Oct 2005 18:17 GMT11
While Wilma was passing us here in Satellite Beach yesterday, the water in
our canal rose about 4 ft above normal.
A neighbor had his jet boat (oversized jet ski) on the lift but not tied to
the dock. After the boat traveled around that side of the canal a bit, he
watermaker pickling - how long does it last28 Oct 2005 13:41 GMT5
We bought a 8gph watermaker in the Spring and got quite a deal,
remanufactured by a highly reputable company.
I'm now close to installing, and in my research, I've read several
places that the pickling process is only good for 3 months or so.
