Pearson 365 ketch opinions?28 Feb 2006 16:21 GMT4
specifically, it looks like the draft of the pearson 365 ketch is only
4'6", yet it's not a wing keel.  how does that work?  does this make
the boat tender?
suitable for circumnavigation?

Crown Batteries?28 Feb 2006 12:38 GMT3
Salesman faxed me a test showing comparable Crown batteries
outperforming Trojan T105s. Anyone have any experience with Crown
batteries or know much about them?
Is there the "perfect" sailing retirement place on the East Coast?27 Feb 2006 21:02 GMT40
My significant (aka, the Admiral) and I are playing with the thought
of where we would like to sail and live when we are free of our
everyday jobs. The place would have to:
1. Be temperate, at least warmer than New England
Apollo Flybuddy Retaining screw needed27 Feb 2006 20:58 GMT1
We had to use a screw extractor to remove the rationing screw of our
Apollo Flybuddy Loran.  We thought the unit was junk so let the screw
disappear.  We then were able to get the unit repaired and now need
the long retaining screw.
Air Drying Fish in warm climates27 Feb 2006 12:41 GMT19
Years ago I worked on Japanese and Korean boats in the Bering Sea.
Most everyone had a personal "stash" of air dried cod, squid, and other
sea monsters hanging like wind chimes in out of the way corners. I was
a bit apprehensive to eat the stuff at first but a few sakes or soju
Titanic show reminder.27 Feb 2006 08:37 GMT20
Some of you, presumably without PDA’s or calendars, requested a
reminder about the Titanic show closer to air time. Here it is:

Soda Blasting/Bottom Painting26 Feb 2006 22:29 GMT2
My boat hasn't had the bottom paint removed entirely since at least 2000.
It appears the former owner had the hull sanded as needed and another coat
of paint applied each season.  I was considering having the bottom soda
blasted back to the gel coat and the painted.  (the boat is ...
Insurance depreciation26 Feb 2006 20:52 GMT6
I've been assessed  21% depreciation plus my deductible on damages from
hurricane 'wilma'. Nothing in my policy mentions deprecation on damages.
I've never had a claim before. Is this the norm??
thanks
Boat Broker Question ...26 Feb 2006 18:01 GMT60
Lately, I have been in contact with a number of boat brokers.  Is it just
me, but these people seem sleazy.  They have a listing, they represent the
buyer [ and themselves ].  They stand to make money if a sale goes through
yet they don't seem to know much, nor do they want to do ...
Ocean Kayak and 27footer: store / tow25 Feb 2006 21:06 GMT40
Does anyone have experience either storing an
ocean kayak (closed, sit on top variety) on a 27
foot sailboat, or towing it behind?
What are your experiences? Doable? Horrible?
Everglades back country wilderness cruise report25 Feb 2006 18:54 GMT7
For anyone interested in cruising an area with no civilization or man
made structures for many miles, no fuel, no supplys, no cell phone  or
internet service, shallow water, dubious charts, no obvious means of
rescue, a serious mosquito problem - but lots of exotic wildlife and

Cautionary advise to Consumers/Dealers23 Feb 2006 16:17 GMT12
Thought I was about to die  in a brand new boat 2 months ago, I really
believe this is an accident just waiting to happen again and again. I
called Tracker and the Dealer but got mostly silence and excuses
(maybe i'm just extraordinarily stupid and overly trusting of authority
Bow thruster drag22 Feb 2006 09:59 GMT11
I'm thinking of putting a bow thruster in a 36" trawler. Has anyone read
any studies or done any research on what this hole and the subsequent
tunnel might do to its fuel economy?
