Beneteau, Wandering22 Feb 2006 09:37 GMT7
I sailed three days this weekend on a Beneteau 39, approximately 1988
model, in winds of around 20-25kts, and I was somewhat surprised that
the boat seemed to wander about from port to starboard on anything

I heard from a friend in the Dominican Republic that a sailboat named
Park Place went up on a reef and sank somewhere north of the DR.  Does
anyone know any more information about this incident?  I met the Capt

NW freeze19 Feb 2006 20:10 GMT26
My 25 footer sits in the Columbia River at my friend's boathouse, with a
significant current under it.  This winter, I haven't been concerned about
winterizing it, since it has fresh water cooling, and even more pertinent,
daytime highs have been above freezing.

I got bumped from the "Good Morning America" show.  They wanted to two
guys in the expedition who are the subject of a recent book (Shadow
Divers, a must read) and upcoming movie.  Evidently they are more
interested in that aspect than the Titanic itself.

Safety Lesson, Tragic Story,, 17 Feb 2006 03:32 GMT54
This is from a New Hampshire paper.. This morning.  It is about a report of
an accident which should have never happened.  If Stephen Woods was wearing
a safety harness maybe, most likely, he would not have fallen overboard.
Also, it shows why we are reminded to "prepare for the ...

Lifesling2 and its USCG approval15 Feb 2006 18:28 GMT2
Is the Lifesling2 approved by the USCG requirement (160.050) for a 24"
ring buoy for vessels carrying persons for hire? It's a Type IV, but I'm
not sure it qualifies and am looking for others' interpretation.

Canadian charts - electronic15 Feb 2006 04:50 GMT2
Just bought some charts off ebay for Newfoundland.
I went to ebay and searched for "chart newfoundland" and found this
fellow who sold me disks for $25.  Also included Sea Clear, which is a
free download in any case, but is convenient to have in one place.
