Joe (or anybody in the Clear Lake area);
Any schedule for fireworks in the Clear Lake Area on the
fourth of July weekend?
I'll be in Portofino Friday night, June 30th until the 4th of
Johnson 6.5 Outboard30 Jun 2006 11:47 GMT1
Dear folks,
I've come across an outboard motor and I am unable to find any
information about it on the Johnson/Evinrude website, which was
surprising to me but I have little experience with the company or its
Help beginner29 Jun 2006 23:47 GMT5
Have a 14' fiberglass boat with a Suzuki DT40.  The hull is very old,
it's a 57.  The motor is a late 80's.  Motor runs great but when I get
over about 60% power the bow of the boat intermittently "dives" left
and downward abruptly.  Very scarey.  The prop is in bad shape.  Would

The holding tank deodorant you recommend isn't carried in any of the
three local stores but I was looking for something to try in the
meantime.  Most say they have to be put directly in the tank and not
in the bowl.
BVI customs fees29 Jun 2006 00:36 GMT8
Has anyone taken their boat to the BVI in the last six months or so?
While checking on customs fees for our upcoming cruise to the eastern
caribbean I checked the BVI Tourist Board web site I found the following:

Dockwise Yacht Transport28 Jun 2006 21:34 GMT6
Has anybody had any experience with Dockwise Yacht Transport?
Especially shipping from either Australia or New Zealand to the
Northern Hemisphere.  I seem to have struck a bad patch and wonder if
others have advice on how to deal with the company.
Garmin Routes and Tracks28 Jun 2006 13:47 GMT4
Anybody know of a site where boaters can trade routes and even
better.....actual tracks that have been saved knowing the draft of the boat?
I am trying to work my way around the charts on the back side of Cape
Lookout off the North Carolina coast.  Local knowledge would be very
Yanmar 1GM1028 Jun 2006 02:12 GMT24
Good morning

Recently I had it serviced, oil changed etc. including replacing the
Kohler Generator Problem28 Jun 2006 00:54 GMT12
When I started my generator for the first time this season, the genny
started fine and ran great for the first 3-4 mins before it started to
run rough and shut itself down.
After letting it sit for a min or so, I started it again and it ran
modified figure 8 for MOB28 Jun 2006 00:04 GMT8
I've seen and practiced this a few times with my students, but I was
wondering if someone has a reference to the procedure on the web?
The basic difference between the standard figure 8 (or quick turn) and the
modified version is that instead of immediately going on a beam reach, ...

Coast Guard reports27 Jun 2006 00:44 GMT3
We were working on our boat in Racine Wisconsin harbor yesterday and heard a lot
of things going on just outside the harbor.  A 40 footer went hard aground
somewhere outside the harbor entrance.  Seems like one person broke an arm and
another had a bad bang to the head.  There ...
choate 41 for cruising26 Jun 2006 23:02 GMT13
I'm interested in a Choate 41 (2 ton IOR) for sale in the Bay Area.  My
interest is NOT in racing but rather in long-distance cruising.
Interested in the seaworthiness of these designs.  It seems some say
they can be squirrely to steer downwind, but others say that applies
More GPS questions ,, for the novice26 Jun 2006 15:39 GMT13
Thanks for the info from those who answered my earlier post.  Couple more
questions.
The Garmin MAP76 or the Garmin MAP76s .
If I have this right;  first buy the GPS unit, then get the Blue Charts.
220 and 110 for cruising boats26 Jun 2006 15:25 GMT6
I am in the process of getting a 220 boat.  I am thinking that if it
takes it takes two phases to make 220 for boat wiring then I can run a
separate pair from the neutral and one phase and make that into 110 for
the boat.  I can then install both 220 and 110 plugs on the vessel.
