High output alternator on a Bukh DV2431 Jan 2007 23:33 GMT21
Has anyone had experience of fitting a 100A high output alternator to
a Bukh DV24 engine to either replace or supplement the 50A standard
alternator?
The standard alternator belt isn't wide enough to support an
Trailerable Cruisers31 Jan 2007 12:25 GMT17
I was forced to give up my live aboard lifestyle when hurricanes and
condominiums destroyed or replaced affordable Marinas. I moved away
from central Florida and live about 1 hour from the coast in South
Carolina. I never imagined how much I would miss the boaters
Why do solar panels output 19V30 Jan 2007 20:35 GMT8
I was curious if someone could explain why solar panels that charge a
12V system put out 19V? I used a multi-meter to check the voltage on my
panels and was at first alarmed that they output 19V but then upon
looking online I discovered that it's fairly common. Anyhow, was

Canada?  Take off, eh?30 Jan 2007 04:38 GMT21
Well, even here in Hawaii it's winter and while we are working hard on
chuffing the cruising kitty we are also dreaming about the next voyage.
Among the candidates is a passage leaving here Mayish and arriving
somewhere between Ketchikan and Seattle late May or early June.  This
Gas $1.99/gallon!30 Jan 2007 02:51 GMT103
Am I the only one to notice how Big Oil seems to have gotten the message
from the last halftime election where the Democrats took over both houses?
Wouldn't it have been fun to hear the Neocons calling them to make a deal?
Gas is $1.99/US Gallon in Charleston, SC, tonight.  I ...

Dickerson 37 ketch28 Jan 2007 02:22 GMT1
With retirement looming on the horizon, my wife and I are looking
forward to getting out of the cold, white north and heading south. One
possiblity is a centre cockpit Dickerson 37' ketch.  We would appreciate
comments and suggestions from those who have sailed and / or lived
Seaworthy Inflatable by Boat US ,, question25 Jan 2007 00:01 GMT1
I found one for sale.  Price seems pretty good.  But then I found out that
the company "Seaworthy" isn't in business anymore.
I guess the Seaworthy inflatable was made for Boat US before West Marine
bought Boat US . .. or something.
Shaft Alternator FIxed!24 Jan 2007 23:40 GMT2
After Cap'n Geoffrey took Lionheart's shaft alternator to a better electric
shop than before, the new guy found the slip rings had separated from their
mounting and that was the reason it stopped putting amps out after it
warmed up.  He repaired the rings as the company that made ...
Book, Plans, Design, needed ... just bought a sewing machine24 Jan 2007 02:57 GMT5
I bought an old metal sewing machine.  D Casey, the guru, recommends this in
most of his sailboat maintenance books.
Casey has a few ideas about projects to start with;  cockpit cover, etc.
But no exact plans.

Must be blind, but can't find the actual dimensions of the unit

Anyone be kind enough to point out where I can get them?

web started bringing us these clips.  Anyone who plans to go deepwater
