Belt replacement31 Aug 2007 17:33 GMT5
How tough is it to replace the alternator belt on my Merc I/O. It looked
simple but then I realized it was impossible to get ytuhen new belt
around the main pulley.

PETITION US CONGRESS: The war must end: A million Iraqis have been killed30 Aug 2007 04:25 GMT5
Dear Friends,
As of July 2006, a scientific study led by researchers at Johns
Hopkins found that 650,000 Iraqis had died as a result of the U.S.-led
invasion. Unfortunately, the death toll has continued to mount since
Seeing current29 Aug 2007 18:57 GMT7
Years (decades?) ago, I read something about old salts being able to see the
speed and direction of the current running under the waves with not
stationary reference such as a lobster buoy.  I thought this was magical and
mystical until I looked at the water surface one day and ...
Rethinking the MOB pole29 Aug 2007 01:31 GMT17
The magnetic reed switch on my MOB pole has definitely gone bad. Another
idea on the ash heap of history. The pole isn't going to get rebuilt this
season anyway so I'm going the strobe on the horseshoe buoy route.
I'm now rethinking the MOB pole anyway for my boat. In the days ...

The first and only Sconset calendar, for 2008, is available now. Makes
a wonderful gift for friends, relatives, office mates. Experience the
quiet charm of Siasconset, in Nantucket's southeastern corner of the
island, all year through the stunning pictures by award-winning
List of Post Offices on the ICW27 Aug 2007 20:04 GMT3
Anybody know of a list of post offices close to ICW that will accept
General Delivery? Thought maybe somewhere someone compiled a
list of post offices (zips, ph. #, address/directions) that are
convenient

Question for Peggie27 Aug 2007 14:49 GMT17
Peggie
The head on our boat is a 3 year old Wilcox Headmate.  Should there be
any recirculation of the bowl contents happening when one flushes this
head?  Either I have just noticed it or the recirculation is getting
Ping Larry - O.T.27 Aug 2007 13:34 GMT6
Larry to the White Courtesy Phone please,..
I understand you're a vintage MB advocate. There's a '76 240D here for
$2000. 240k miles. Power nothing. A/C. Automatic. Good tires. Brakes
ok. Body ok. Plain vanilla interior. Never been rebuilt.
Twin Disk Transmission...27 Aug 2007 08:49 GMT2
I've got a Carver 530 with twin Cummin and a Twin Disk transmission throttle
unit. This generally works fine except that I had a damaged S/B throttle
cable replaces in May. Configuration is certainly workable in the short
term. However, I'd like to find somebody on the Atlantic ...

Bruce has fallen into the trap.26 Aug 2007 10:59 GMT19
Poor Bruce P. has fallen into the trap of moving up in his choice of
boats until he's finally ended up in a boat that's too big for him to
handle or afford.
This is illustrated by the fact Bruce languishes on a marina in Thailand
ferro26 Aug 2007 03:14 GMT26
I recently purchased a 30 odd year old hartley queenslander ferro
cement sloop. I love it and so does my family and friends. Its a funny
old thing, everything works, but all the know alls who own boats built
of other materials look down their noses and all have some anecdotal
Well, wadda you know?25 Aug 2007 01:11 GMT45
I went back down to the boat for something I forgot and decided I wanted to
play around a little more.
I've been telling myself since I got the boat that I should try hand
starting the diesel.  Better to climb the learning curve at the dock than
