rec.boats, rec.boats.cruising30 Sep 2007 14:29 GMT30
I have a nesting 2-paw-9 dinghy for my 28' sailboat that I have always
rowed.  For the oars, I have used the type of oarlocks that attach to
the oars and then insert into a female socket on the dinghy.  I like
this because there is nothing that can get lost; the oarlock is

Running a gasoline engine at low RPM for extended periods30 Sep 2007 03:42 GMT3
I have a boat with twin 350 hp Crusader gas engines.  I would like to
cruise this boat between Florida and the Bahamas.  It will be optimal
for me to cross the Gulf Stream at high cruising speeds to get out of
harms way, then reduce to a very slow speed when moving around the

Hard Bimini Construction?  Foam & Resin Construction?29 Sep 2007 02:45 GMT26
We cruise on our Gulfstar Auxillary 41 centre cockpit.  Our bimini is now
old and will need replacing this season.  I have been thinking of replacing
with a hard bimini that will last longer than a sunbrella one, allow the
mounting of solar panels, water collection & other cockpit ...
Painting anodized spars29 Sep 2007 00:00 GMT19
Does anyone here have any actual first hand experience with painting
anodized spars?
I would like to replace the boom on my boat but the only section available
is anodized and the spar company says the coating would have to be removed
trouble starting engine28 Sep 2007 16:50 GMT8
I need a bit of advice on an issue we're having starting
our boat up.
We purchased a 95 Sea Ray Sundancer a few months ago that came with a
two year old 5.0 Mercruiser and recently replaced manifolds. All went
Chesapeake City on the C&D Canal28 Sep 2007 08:10 GMT8
We're going to be in or near Chesapeake City in a couple of days.
Does anyone have recommendations for restaurants and/or dockage in
that area?  The boat is a Grand Banks 49 trawler drawing 5 1/2 ft. How
much room is in the anchorage area?
Speaking of the Chesapeake, anyone know what this is?27 Sep 2007 22:02 GMT7
It's not on a chart that I can see.  I don't think it's a ship.
There's no wake and no detail like a ship would have.  An oil spill?
It could be just a smudge on the picture.  There's a few more blobs
like it just to the south.
