BlueJacket Sailing Logs Available Via RSS30 Apr 2008 04:05 GMT6
I must admit that I'm not a big fan of posting trip logs to r.b.c as if
everyone did it, the forum would be filled up with logs.  A forum such as
r.b.c.logs would be appropriate...
I'm also not a big fan of e-mail logs, especially those where you can't
Pecking order29 Apr 2008 22:18 GMT3
Lot of talk here lately about regs and rules so thought I would post
this tidbit I stumbled across
New Reels Catch Fish So Purchase Some - or NRCFSPS. 1) Nuc (Not Under

Floating dock on exposed water29 Apr 2008 18:00 GMT9
This is something that I toyed with in the past, so I may have asked a
similar question in the past.
I want to build a floating dock about 7 feet by 14 feet and locate it beside
a seawall fronting a body of water with a fetch of up to eight miles. It
Windvane steering28 Apr 2008 11:59 GMT9
I'm looking hard at windvane steering. I know Roger likes the Cape
Horn but I seriously wonder how you replace a broken control line
standing on your head in the middle of a storm.
The Monitor and Fleming take up too much space on the stern.
Jacques Cousteau Odyssey posted!  CAFB OPEN HOUSE TOMORROW!28 Apr 2008 09:43 GMT23
Someone has posted a whole storm of Jacques Cousteau Odyssey episodes in
nicely-compressed DivX format over on alt.binaries.multimedia.documentaries
newsgroup.
These are the Cousteau Society's trips from back in the late 70's.
Radar Sentry28 Apr 2008 03:20 GMT4
I purchased one of these from Ebay:

They show up occasionally on Ebay; first manufactured in 1961, when
the police in some states were use X-band radar to detect speeding

Can anyone direct me to a source for Danforth parts? I am in need of a
5" lexan compass dome. I've already tried the manufacturer and some
internet suppliers - no luck. Email me at: captainjon@earthlink.net
Thanks
You make a statement.27 Apr 2008 22:51 GMT16
You make a statement when you run a portable generator in an anchorage. As a
matter of fact you make at least half a dozen statements:
1) My 120 volt frivolities are more important than your peace and quiet.
2) My unnecessary noise-making is more important than your enjoying the
Upcoming Trip27 Apr 2008 10:59 GMT6
I am planning a trip from Annapolis to Jacksonville, Fl.  Having not
done this trip in the past, I was wondering about the pros and cons of
going outside from Norfolk to Jacksonville versus going down the ICW
thru Albermarle and Pamilco to Beaufort, NC and then out to

Idiot yachtsman26 Apr 2008 19:48 GMT7
This morning on Norwegian TV they have shown the most stupid action by a
yacht skipper I have ever seen.
The world's largest cruise line has been in Oslo and was under way in the
channel going back out, with the city still in sight behind.
Stability forces26 Apr 2008 19:18 GMT47
Escaping from the mess down below where Tom asked about buoyancy:
Gravity is a real force, one of the most basic in the universe.  When you
observe its effects, you are seeing the actual shape of the space/time
fabric of the universe and the way matter interacts with it.
masthead pictures26 Apr 2008 18:43 GMT18
Most sailors take their equipment maintenance very seriously. I know I do.
One place that's infrequently visited is the masthead, and I'm wondering if
you have any pictures of this vital area of your standing rigging. The last
time I had someone go aloft (sorry, I'm not ...
