| Cleaning Zinc Anodes | 29 Aug 2008 23:07 GMT | 12 |
Just pulled my vessel out of the river, getting ready to take a trip to one of the local lakes for a week-long vacation on-board. This vessel has only been in the water for ~5 months, but the zinc anodes look like they're working especially well. *THAT's* good news, but I

| Mystical thoughts | 29 Aug 2008 21:22 GMT | 28 |
Hiya, y'all, Having had no response to those wanting me to keep a minimum of US warship separation, I wonder if there are Mystic, CT dwellers here. We think we'll be in Mystic toward the end of the week or more likely

Cod Almighty - August 22 We sailed off our mooring in Portland in the endings of a mild Nor'wester on Wednesday morning at about 9AM. We'd timed our departure to take advantage of the falling tide, and got a nice

| Thumbs Up & Down | 28 Aug 2008 09:27 GMT | 32 |
The summer is almost over and rather than giving a travelogue I thought I'd give some thoughts on what gear worked and what didn't. First, though, a micro-travelogue: In late June we went with daughter, cats, and dog from Boston to the Vineyard, and hung out around there for

| Whisper Wind Turbine | 27 Aug 2008 22:09 GMT | 6 |
Thank you for your comments. But, I don't want anything like a 10 foot diameter wind turbine. That would be Much too big and unnecessary. I do want something bigger than the conventional 1.2 meter ones because I want more power and that means more diameter and

| Losing coolant | 27 Aug 2008 20:08 GMT | 2 |
Never had a prob with the Yanmar 50hp diesel till today. Two coolant systems - raw water (OK) and closed system - lost all coolant - refilled - lost it all again about an hour later. Found one small leak - the top vent hole in the vented loop.

| Origo stove disks | 27 Aug 2008 02:01 GMT | 3 |
The Origo stove (used) on my boat came with two black plastic disks which presumably slow down the evaporation of alcohol when the stove is not in use. One now has a hole burned in it (don't ask). How important are these disks? The flaps appear to seal farily tight and I'm ...

| Whisper Wind Turbine | 26 Aug 2008 21:00 GMT | 2 |
I'm on a canal with no tunnels and best of all, no locks. And, it's a ship canal so it's very wide and has plenty of room to pass other boats so I don't think that is a problem. And you're right, it would be unwise to try to cruise with the thing up. I'm not going to do

| Whisper Wind Turbine | 26 Aug 2008 16:36 GMT | 6 |
I live on a narrowboat - a 45 foot long, 6 foot wide steel boat on a canal in England. I have a British Rutland 913 wind turbine and it delivers a pathetic amount of power. So, looking for more, preferably a Lot more, I looked at South West Windpower's Air Breeze and Whisper.
