I have had my Cap'n 6.1 running on GPS input to the serial connector and the USB of my Toshibia Tecra 8000. No problem there. (But I prefer the USB since I'm now using a GPS module that requires power from the laptop USB.) Now it's time to try an hook up the autopilot. All the ...

| Protecting 12V electronic equipment | 27 Jul 2003 16:36 GMT | 3 |
I have various electronic items on board which are rated at 14V and 16V DC max. I am fitting a 20" LCD TV this winter and that is rated at 16V max. Although so far I've not had a failure I'm concerned at spike protection and voltage regulator failure giving high voltages.

| Are zap stoppers really needed on alternators? | 25 Jul 2003 03:52 GMT | 20 |
Are zap stoppers really needed on alternators? These aftermkt devices claim to portect alt. diodes against damage from transients. I can't imagine that engineers at places like Motorola would design alternators that needed external aftermarket devices to effectively protect them ...
