pump08 Mar 2004 00:09 GMT1
I'm not an engineer but it sounds to me like your pump is noisy because
it's running no load. ie) You said it forms "an air lock".
If this if true then the motor will wind up to no-load speed, which
could be several times the working speed.
2 kw radarbeam07 Mar 2004 23:52 GMT34
There is something I dont understand about radars. I have a JRC 1500 radar
(16 miles), in according to the manual, the antenna is supposed to send out
a radarbeam of 2000 watt. My engines (yanmar 4lha htp) generator produses
12v 80A (1120watt).
grounding ssb and vhf radio on aluminium hull07 Mar 2004 22:11 GMT3
I am installing radio equipment on an aluminium boat (Ovni 435)
In order to avoid electrolysis, what is the best way to ground vhf and ssb
transceivers on a aluminium boat?
I have to use a "floating power supply", so neither the positive nor
LCD/Nema display07 Mar 2004 20:18 GMT8
With the cost of instrument maxis (mast displays) so high, has anyone out
there come up with a simple solution? It seems like it would be fairly easy
to have a program to read and direct the NEMA sentence to a commonly
available LCD display. Use a plam pilot or similar to run a ...
Reducing speed of DC pump07 Mar 2004 04:28 GMT7
My Jabsco toilet pump needs to be slowed down, what is the simplest
way to reduce speed, by voltage?  It also is very noisy, hopefully
reduced speed will quiet it down too.

I'm installing a ST5000 autopilot control unit with an Alpha Marine linear

I'm not sure what the Raymarine control unit is looking for.. The input on
Sticky Furuno Trackball, follow up.05 Mar 2004 22:34 GMT7
I finally got my 1721 sticky track ball problem solved.. I opened the radar
case and expected I would have reasonable access. What I found was the
assembly would require major disassembly of the radar display.
I'm still not sure of why it was difficult to turn, but I finally took a

old IC-M600 ssb opinion??05 Mar 2004 01:41 GMT5
I noticed a IC-M600 with a AT120 tuner on ebay.. Not much bidding activity
and current bid is pretty low. Item number: 2464392650
I'm wonder about opinions on this as a marine SSB? Any good? Better than
nothing?  etc.
furuno ls4100 vs Garmin 240 Blue?05 Mar 2004 00:17 GMT2
I am in the market for a small fishfinder for my boat. I have narrowed it
down to these two units . The Garmin is more watts peak to peak than the
Furuno,  most of my fishing is saltwater , and some areas are very deep and
you lose the bottom . I am replacing a Lowrance x-25 which ...
Raymarine raytheon 4Kw Radome array question04 Mar 2004 20:02 GMT3
I've got a unit that is about 7 years old.
Recently, it started turning erratically, causing the display to
pop the Antenna not rotating message, and shutting off.
The antenna's turning, but slows about every 1 to 1.5 revolutions.
VHF Antenna Resistance, Center Conductor To Shield04 Mar 2004 19:59 GMT12
I have a 34 foot sloop which I bought six years ago on Kentucky Lake
near Paducah. I motored it up river to Guntersville Lake in North
Alabama. I sailed her on Guntersville Lake on the very few days that I
had off and the wind was blowing. That however, was no more than a few
Furuno-Raymarine-Garmin???04 Mar 2004 16:29 GMT2
New boat (32ft power) and I can't believe how many electronics choices
are out there. I want GPS, chartplotter, radar, fishfinder. I care
most about chartplotter. Won't use radar or fishfinder often (but
enough that I need it). I see three choices -
