Raymarine 54 DSC VHF radio28 Feb 2005 05:56 GMT1
I'm considering buying a Raymarine 54 Class D DSC VHF radio, and
wonder if anyone here has any experience with this (or other)
Raymarine VHFs.  The advertised price for this radio seems
exceptionally low for a Class D radio - it is cheaper than many SC-101
2 VHFs sharing 1 VHF antenna28 Feb 2005 05:19 GMT9
I have an Apelco VHF mounted in the nav station with a remote speaker i
the cockpit. A Raymarine handheld is kept near the helm. Of course th
handheld has nowhere near the range of the fixed VHF below. Instead o
replacing the [perfectly good] Apleco VHF, I would like to install

required to do the job? I plan to build my own....can't see
paying $100 plus for 4 diodes and a couple of caps.
The tricky part might be figuring out a way to monitor the

Is there a handheld color GPS with C-map cards?25 Feb 2005 20:13 GMT2
I've been using a Magellan NAV6000 for years. It uses C-map which I prefer
to Garmin Bluechart. However, slow redrawing of screen and monochrome
presentation makes me look for a more modern replacement. A large screen
would be a great plus.
Combining multiple VHFs on single ant25 Feb 2005 18:06 GMT1

radio at the helm and share the antenna (located at the top of a 55'
mast).

Autohelm 800 pinout/diagram23 Feb 2005 05:49 GMT5
I've got an Autohelm 800 (the one with the pushbottons, not the
compass).  I understand that it does not accept NMEA-0183 input except
when the Radio Navigation Interface is used.  The Radio Navigation
Interface is a discontinued product.  Therefore, I intend to make my

Speaker installation22 Feb 2005 12:55 GMT23
So I finally found a set of speakers that seemed like a good enough deal and
they came in last week.  I'm wondering if anyone has any input/experience
installing speakers.  They aren't flush mount which needs I'll need to be
cutting a few holes... some of my curiosity lies in ...

Connecting my Silva S15 to my GPS20 Feb 2005 15:49 GMT2
I have a Silva S15 radio and a Garmin 152 GPS. I don't seem to be able to
connect the two. The Silva manual shows that I need to connect Red (GPS+)
and Green (GPS ground) to the Garmin.
The Garmin has the following

FM car radio Antenna19 Feb 2005 03:55 GMT18
I want to install a new FM radio / CD player on my boat. Thought I
would mount the antenna in the stern area. I also like the idea of
having a redundant marine VHF antenna.
Is it reasonable to use a marine VHF antenna for an FM car radio
Light List19 Feb 2005 03:48 GMT3
Does anyone know of a website with downloadable USA Light Lists??? The only
thing I found was a site with Lists' front matter, index and updates. Looks
like the marner without Internet access (preferably high speed) at sea is
out of luck unless he's carrying he paper version.
