| Navman 5100 NMEA capability | 30 Jul 2005 00:40 GMT | 1 |
Anyone know if the 5100 can accept VHW (speed over water) and MTW (water temp) on its NMEA input? The manual only talks about DPT from a sounder. I thought I'd ask here as I'm waiting for a response from Navman (+17 hours from me in the NE USA).

| are aeronautical lorans compatible with boating? | 27 Jul 2005 20:08 GMT | 2 |
Are the aeronautical LORAN sets selling for little on Ebay useable on boats? Just curious. Some don't appear to have keypads for TD1/TD2 entry. How is this accomplished? Do they also have LAT/LONG flip-flop capability?

| Speaking of NMEA, is there a NMEA alarm monitor? | 22 Jul 2005 13:41 GMT | 46 |
Almost all GPSs have anchor watch alarms and radars have range alarms but they all put out a whimpy little beep. Is there a device that monitors the NMEA data streams (from say a multiplexer) and make a noise that will get your attention when it sees an alarm or MOB statement??

| Touchscreens | 18 Jul 2005 17:32 GMT | 4 |
I have recently tried a touchscreen on my navpod using it as a repeater for my laptop for navigational purposes. Unfortunately it was a bit of a disaster. Problems with steaming up, and poor brilliance and a lot of reflections. It was fine at night or on a dull day, but who wants ...

Can someone tell me how to check whether my charging circuit is working on this old Merc? I ran a little test on the rectifier which indicated it was bad and have just replaced it. Now, if I check voltage across one of the batteries, with engine off, it measured 12.3 volts. With ...

| Gyrocompass and inclinometer | 17 Jul 2005 01:17 GMT | 1 |
I have an obsolete KVH Tracphone antenna AU900A that has an integral gyrocompass and inclinometer. The servos and gearing would make a great land-based positioning device. I would also like to experiment with the internal gyrocompass and inclinometer. KVH tech support will only tell ...
