Substandard Horizon29 Mar 2006 15:26 GMT7
When I bought my present boat, it had an am/fm/cassette unit from Standard
Horizon. Model MST60. It is a unit that comes in it's own "underdash" hanging
box with a flip lid on the front.
I never really liked it much, and figured at some point I would update to a

Ok, class, let's turn our March 2006 Cruising World to page 44, a new
article on NMEA 2000, the do-all CANbus solution to NMEA0183's
deficiencies.
For class, tomorrow, look through the whole article and count the number of

old ray jefferson L-400 loran; need help with28 Mar 2006 19:08 GMT1
I was rooting around in our storage shed and found a Ray Jefferson L-400 and
I don't recall where I got it from.
The L-400 isn't one of the common ones by Ray Jeffereson.  The L-100 and
PL-99 are much better known.  The L-400 has 200 waypoint storage capability.

Laptop GPS26 Mar 2006 01:48 GMT1
I am looking for a wireless GPS receiver to hook up to my laptop to
work with my navigation software (Nobeltec).  Surfing the Internet, I
have located Bluetoot types  and USB types.  Checked  mightygps.com -
pcmcia, Holux GM 212, Altina GBT 708.
antenna repair25 Mar 2006 17:05 GMT4
After awhile, those fiberglass antennas lose their outer coating and get
really nasty to handle without gloves.  If you grab 'em barehanded, you get
a bunch of little fiberglass needles in your hands.
Is there any good stuff to recoat 'em with to tame 'em down a bit?  They're

Using a laptop with a Raymarine E-80?24 Mar 2006 13:46 GMT13
What options exist to use a laptop in a boat that's got a Raymarine E-80
setup?
I'd like to be able to do two things.  One being pull a live GPS signal for
laptop nav software (Coastal Explorer).  The other being upload/download

Does any one have any experience with these devices. I understand with these
you don't need battery switches, combiners or isolators.

Help W?Calmec manual21 Mar 2006 19:58 GMT1
I have a non functional Calmec Mk X autopilot with no manuals. Where would
I possibly find a manual for this bugger. Have tried the usual searches for
Calmec. I believe this unit was also called an Ametec.
Are there sites that stock out of date manuals etc?
Installing GPS Antenna on both Raymarine Chartplotters21 Mar 2006 02:45 GMT7
Is it overkill to install GPS antenna's on both Raymarine
chartplotters?
I have an E-80 going into the nav station, connected to GPS antenna and
Radar.
