PDA with GPS used as NMEA source for DSC?31 Aug 2006 17:13 GMT5
Our small motor boat is fitted with a DSC VHF radio which accommodates
a GPS positioning input using NMEA.  I'd like to employ a removable
GPS unit, mounted in a cradle next to the radio. So far, so easy.  For
my work, and during leisure time, I want to use a PDA running Email
Garmin GPSMAP 37830 Aug 2006 14:46 GMT5
I've been looking at the Garmin GPSMAP 376, I think I might buy it.  The cost
is around $1000, but it looks like a good fit for inland water and automobile
usage.   I would use it mainly in my car ( I do alot of service calls to new
customers in the Southeast) and in my boat which I ...

My "new" used boat has got some Autohelm ST50 instruments, but unfortunately
the Log is not (it's an old Silva 2200). Consequently the wind instrument

Losing locator and stereo when cranking26 Aug 2006 17:45 GMT9
Hi everyone!, Hey I'm having a small but irritating problem with an
electrical circuit on my 1993 OMC Sunbird.
The problem is that sometimes the engine doesn't start right away and
requires a few more cranks by the starter to get it going. I'm talking
shoot-through transducers, mineral oil, and adhesive24 Aug 2006 11:23 GMT5
Several posts recently about setting transducers in a tube filled with
mineral oil.  The problem noted was the mineral oil eating through the
adhesive that affixes the tube to the fiberglass.  I found a reference
that stated Sikkens Sikaflex is the adhesive of choice for this

johnsnon 3 cyl 70hp rectifier fix for inexpensive22 Aug 2006 21:13 GMT1
I had my rectifier go bad in the Johnson 3cyl 70hp. Called NAPA for a
replacement, it was $180.  Way too ridiculous for a rectifier bridge so I
went down to Radio Shack. They have a couple rectifier bridges so I bought
the large one, took off the stock rectifier, cut off the ...
