I was given a Heart EMS-1800 Inverter that had had the 12v polarity reversed. It does not work now of course, but is it repairable?

I got a Yanmar engine (3YM30). I only have an "overheating" signal but would like to get a temperature gauge installed. I have a C-80 Raymarine on my boat with supposedly can display temperature data when transmitted in NMEA-2000 format. So it should theoretically be possible

I am looking to make a 24v/48v Series/Parallel Switch so that I can charge 4 12v batteries at 24v 65A and use them at 48v 200A and wondered if there was any pointers out there on how to do it - probably with a few DC contactors.
