SSB noise27 Dec 2006 18:41 GMT21
I just finished installing an SSB on my boat. When I turn on my freezer
I get noise on the radio that sounds like morse code. The freezer has a
Danfoss BD50 compressor with a digital thermostat. Has anyone else had
this problem. I think I remember Gordon West writing about this ...
Raymarine AIS27 Dec 2006 00:31 GMT17
Does anyone know how Raymarine E series handle AIS when there are no AIS
signals in the area? Does it just show "No AIS"? Since AIS nema data doesn't
xmit unless there is active signal, I assume that is the reason for the "No
AIS" message even though the receiver is hooked up and ...
Wire Sizing Between Batteries?26 Dec 2006 12:06 GMT8
I am ready to install new batteries. I have not found a reference for wire
size - between - batteries. I have six T105 six volt batteries. What size
wire should be used to series and parallel them? The boat has 2/0 with a
250amp fuse running to the battery selector switch. I am ...
20 hour vs. 50 hour battery rating25 Dec 2006 23:44 GMT5
Interesting question came up this evening perusing the Surrette L16H battery
specs.  The specs say they have a 20 hour rating of 400AH and a 50 hour
rating of 476AH.  Almost 20% more.  That is to be expected as total amp
hours increase with slower draw rates.   The 20 hour rate ...
battery equalization23 Dec 2006 05:22 GMT1
The batteries on my boat need an equalization charge. According to the
battery manufacturer that is 15.5 volts for 8 hours. I have an onboard
55 amp charger but it does not have an equalization function. Does
anyone know of an easy inexpensive way to accomplish this. The Xantrex
Battery charger help.22 Dec 2006 22:05 GMT4
I have what I believe is a pretty simple setup.
Two battery banks, a diesel engine with two alternators, various DC
powered devices (lights, starter, electronics) a generator. I don't use
the generator, the PO used it, but all my devices are DC powered.
240 v fuse-12v fuse switch problem22 Dec 2006 10:21 GMT4
The glass type 5A fuse in the switch to my tiller pilot blew the
other day. The manual calls for a 12A fuse. Replaced fuse with one from
local hardware shop but switch wont function at all with this one. It
was a 15A 3AG or 3WG (will replace with 12A asap). Is this because it's

parking sensors for  boats11 Dec 2006 17:05 GMT4
If anybody knows where I can found parking sensors with detection range
approximately 1-10 meter. (I need them for boats).
For now I only found parking sensor for car with detection range 0, 5-1
meter.
Antenna cable?11 Dec 2006 14:36 GMT24
I'm adding a VHF radio to my sailboat and would like to ask for details
about the antenna cable.
RG-58 is recommended, but the losses in the cable seem staggering!
Is there a better cable for antenna connections???
