Anyone know something about the Perception Avatar?31 Jul 2003 12:44 GMT5
A friend and I are looking for our first kayaks and have decided to
buy kevlar boats.  We're 6'/155# and 5'-8"/135# respectively.
We've tried a number of Perception, Necky, Seaward and other kayaks.
So far we've liked the Perception Avatar best.  But we cannot find any
Do closed trailers for canoes exist?31 Jul 2003 11:08 GMT2

I own a canoe, about 4,5 metre and want to put it in a closed trailer. But
do they exists? specially for one canoe?

BoomerangIt Lost & Found Service30 Jul 2003 23:53 GMT1
Do any of y'all use the BoomerangIt service?  I registered my kayak on
there.  It's real cheap - almost $10 for 10 years of protection.  You
buy a label from them and that label has a unique ID number on it.
You put the label on your item (such as I did with my kayak).  Then
Rafting in Wisconsin30 Jul 2003 21:28 GMT1
Some friends and I are camping in Wisconsin over Labor Day weekend. We
are tossing around the idea of doing some white water rafting. We were
referred to the Menominee River and were told it was a class II-IV.
Can anyone confirm this?  And could anyone tell me if the water may be

What to do in a lighting storm while Kayaking?30 Jul 2003 12:05 GMT2
Has anyone ever been caught in a lighting storm while Kayaking?
I was wondering if lighting could get you if you kind of slid into
your kayak and had it on top of you while out of the water. I'm just
looking for some tips what others do, seeing iv'e been pretty close to
Seakayak Vancouver in November30 Jul 2003 07:41 GMT2
I will be in Vancouver mid November for a conference, and want to
stay on for a holiday and do some sea kayaking. I have been drooling
over websites, but most of the organised tours and rentals seem to
end by the end of September.
Wisconsin Outfitters/River Question30 Jul 2003 04:30 GMT3
If anyone has any ideas for interesting stretches of river to paddle or
local outfitters to use in connection with the trip outlined below, I would
be most grateful.
Our local scout troop, which camps all over the midwest, is looking for

software jobs near whitewater27 Jul 2003 22:49 GMT8
I'm a newly-unemployed software developer with a passion for whitewater
kayaking.  I live in Seattle which is near all kinds of great whitewater
kayaking, but the software job market here is brutal.
So my question to all you folks out there is this:

A lady friend of mine does not believe you can buy a pink boat... Yet I
could swear that I saw some extremely pink ones on the Liquid Logic stand at
ICE.

Cartopping Boats26 Jul 2003 23:07 GMT2
Hey Y'all
Been wondering for a while why recommendations I've read and seen in
practice indicate that boats on a cartop carrier should have the hull on the
car-side of the rig. Especially with an open canoe it seems like it would
