Frozen Kayak Paddles - Please Help30 Apr 2004 17:12 GMT10
Just bought a Hobie Odyssey with 2-piece aluminum shaft paddles.
Apparently they were used in salt water and not rinsed thoroughly
because they will not easily come apart and seem corroded.   Any
advice on unsticking them?  I've already tried some WD-40 and a little
SOS Visual Distress Signal30 Apr 2004 16:33 GMT8
So far as I have ever been able to determine, there does not exist a
non-pyrotechnic device that is conveniently attachable to a PFD and
meets USCG regulations regarding visual distress signals.

Hatch repair idea29 Apr 2004 01:23 GMT6
The front hatch coaming on my old VCP Skerray RMX has partially
seperated from the deck and is leaking badly. Since there is no adhesive
that I know about available at the retail level that will stick to
polyethylene plastic (and I worked for a few years in hardware retailing

I'd like to get thoughts on a couple of paddles. I have been using a Harmont

material to use for this purpose?

Cleaning kayaks?25 Apr 2004 20:59 GMT1
Just hauled the two Pungoes out from under the rear deck where they've been
resting all winter and tried to clean them. There are dark waterline stains on
the bright kayaks which won't scrub off.  I used orange oil cleaner and a
plastic bristle scrub brush.  Any better ideas?

I am looking specifically for a gently used WindRider 10.

we can ship it to me.  I may also be interested in its trailer,
depending on the trailer.
kayak basics24 Apr 2004 14:11 GMT8
How did you guys and gals get started kayaking?  Work your way through
formal instruction?  Friends?  Get a book, a kayak and start self
teaching?  Just wing it with a kayak?  Any and all types of kayaking
would be of interest.
