Bought my kayak30 Sep 2004 11:54 GMT27
Ok, I took the plunge and bought a kayak today.  A Skerray RMX.  I just
hope the physiotherapy on my sore elbows works before the river freezes.

Okee-dokee, I'm back!29 Sep 2004 23:58 GMT4
Boy, was that tiring... trust me, we did a LOT of walking the canoe
through the sorry excuse of a river the Little Miami is from John
Bryan Park to Yellow Springs, Ohio... some places in that stretch of
the river are barely six inches deep, with agravel bed to boot! My

Paddling in the woods after dark27 Sep 2004 15:05 GMT11
Don't know how many have tried this, but if you havn't, I recommend it.
There is a rather heavily wooded area near my home with a small river running
through it.  I've had the pleasure of paddling through there after dark a
few times and... if you like being "creeped out", this is ...

SOT or sit in for hot Fla weather?25 Sep 2004 20:44 GMT2
Do you think that a sit in, with a (breathable) skirt on, would be a
bad choice for hot Florida summer days, or a good insurance against
the sun?
Kayak Building25 Sep 2004 20:44 GMT15
I'm thinking real hard about a winter project and building a Kayak is very high on that list. Has anyone here taken on that project -- and how did it turn out, with who's design?
I'm looking here http://www.oneoceankayaks.com/ specifically at the Cape Ann series. I'm leaning to ...

Any good paddling?  What's the Rio Grande like near there?  I can do
whitewater or touring.
Thanks!

Falling out of the canoe25 Sep 2004 00:57 GMT30
Embarrassing, but I have to ask....
I've been a casual paddler for years.  I started with a cheap fiberglass
White, then graduated to a Mad River Eclipse.  Later, I added a Bell
Northwind.  I can seldom find a partner to paddle it with me and often
Trip Report For Point Pelee Region25 Sep 2004 00:42 GMT6
Just had a blast on three different kayaking trips in the Point Pelee
region. My wife and I paddled down the east shoreline and portaged into the
park, had a very interesting time in a protected marsh, and made a crossing
from Pelee Island to Middle Island (southernmost point in ...
refinishing kayak surface24 Sep 2004 00:49 GMT5
I have two plastic Peception Arcadia kayaks that are somewhat
scratched. I have tried to wet sand, compound, but nothing seems to
work. All I seem to get is a white chalked finish. Are these plastic
kayaks unrepairable? Jim
Adirondack paddle sites?23 Sep 2004 21:50 GMT2
Hi-- my wife and I will be in Lake Placid over Columbus Weekend and plan on
bringing our two Pungoes. We're looking for a good suggestion of paddling
sites: scenic, good selection of wildlife, easy dry launch, no long carry.
Thanks in advance.
Aftermarket Rudder23 Sep 2004 17:50 GMT3
Can anyone tell me where I might be able to buy a rudder to put on an
older kayak I was given. It has a single pin mounting hole. I had
heard Yakima makes a light weight rudder, but I didn't see them on
their web sight.
