Paddling East of Yellowstone and Tetons01 Sep 2005 00:35 GMT3
I'd like to do some flatwater east of the above locations. Any suggestions for
the Sept. 15-27 time frame?

Kayak Club in Aberdeen?31 Aug 2005 11:15 GMT2
Hi, I'm looking to make contact with a Kayak Club in Aberdeen; I'm
going to be leaving Newfoundland for a work term in Aberdeen, just as
the Whitewater gets good over here.(September). And I was hoping to get
some paddling in while I'm across the pond.
Rolling, How many know how.30 Aug 2005 19:57 GMT17
Here in Newfoundland Canada most hard core paddlers can roll a boat but
most paddlers are not hard core. I would guess that only 10% of sea
kayakers here have a roll; any roll!!!.
We see a bomb proof roll as 10 or 12 consecutive rolls with no

I have seen various information on the genesis of this group and their
product and I see that it's for sale now.  Anyone have any experience
with them or know anything about the product?
Thanks,

I have upgraded two of my 10 ft plastic kayaks for an ancient tandem kayak.
I'm happy with the quality paddles I use with my small kayaks, but this
tandem came with a broken delaminated paddle about 2-3 ft longer than my
good paddles. Does a bigger kayak require bigger paddles?
Europe based group?29 Aug 2005 08:18 GMT3
I've been lurking here for a few weeks and I like the group very
much. Friendly and very good and detailed information. So I'd like to
ask a question. Is anybody aware of similar groups in Europe (my
news-server offers uk.rec.boats.paddle and a Polish one,

Water Lovers ?26 Aug 2005 16:23 GMT20
Hi, I have just been looking into getting into kayaking, I live in the
Highlands and like cycling and hillwalking. I am not a big fan of water
sports or swimming but a few years ago I did a kayaking course in a local
pool and a trip to Gairloch kayaking in the sea for a day. ...

...I tried something a little different yesterday.
I have this idea that I have previously described in these pages --
probably more aptly considered a "dream" than an "ambition", and
certainly a long way from a "plan" -- that when I retire, if I am

I just got back from Turkey stopping in Austria on the way home in
Pfunds with Rob Hind who runs LiquidBliss rafting there. We paddled the
Sanna - the Inn was so low that Rob cancelled a family raft trip. I left
10 days a go.
Fire closes Rogue River W&S section (Oregon)25 Aug 2005 03:27 GMT2
The Rogue River Wild & Scenic section was closed to non-commercial
river trips on August 11, 2005, due to wild fires in the Blossom
Bar/Rogue River Ranch area.  Commercials can run from Grave Creek to
Black Bar (take-out restricted due to liability insurance issues).
Where to buy paddle shaft blanks (to fix broken paddle)24 Aug 2005 17:27 GMT1
I broke my two-piece wooden paddle a few weeks ago.  I broke right in the
middle where the two halves connect.    I'm trying to find a source for
fibreglass or carbon-fiber paddle shafts (ie: no blades).  I'm thinking that
I could turn the existing shafts down on a lathe and ...
Eddyline Merlin LT Carbon24 Aug 2005 02:04 GMT2
I was wondering if any of you guys/gals have any opinions about the Eddyline
Merlin LT. I was considering getting one for playing on a lake by my house.
I started out looking for a tandem Dagger Blackwater, but because of
feedback I've decided to go solo. I would definitely be ...

Sore Heels19 Aug 2005 20:58 GMT9
I've been bitten by the kayak bug (1 year now), and have been working up to
do longer day trips.  Last saturday, I did a 32 km (20 mile) ride, but at
the end my heels were really sore.  I've adjusted my foot pedals so that my
knees are just inside the cowling (for bracing), with ...
