Prijon Kodiak and Touryak NOT Good??15 Sep 2005 22:38 GMT11
The local kayak shop doesn't carry these boats and thinks they're not
as good for the money as some Daggers and Neckys...I've always read
good reviews of both, and have actually done well in the Touryak as a
beginner, so what could they possibly be talking about??
Wilderness Waterway14 Sep 2005 01:33 GMT4
I am planning on doing a southbound trip of the wilderness waterway in
November and have a few questions.
Has anyone had any luck using a cell phone for emergency contact
purposes?
I'm a jerk, but I'm RICH.11 Sep 2005 17:21 GMT2
Don't Waste My Time.....
Lets get something straight. I am a jerk. I am obnoxious. I am lazy. And I don’t care, because I am FILTHY RICH. I am much too important to even be sitting here writing this right now. So I'll keep it short. I make several million dollars every year on the ...
Just returned from the Yukon River...11 Sep 2005 04:35 GMT1
40 years ago when I was a kid I made a list of lots of outdoor related
adventures I wanted to do.  While most of my stuff has been climbing or
hiking related, I put on that list many years ago "kayak the Yukon
River".  So last year I got a boat and spent as much time on the water
Are there Conservative Kayakers?09 Sep 2005 14:20 GMT38
I wonder, you are down there in a humble kayak because you are not a
bully, you are at mercy of the elements and you have to use your brain
and skill to survive; and you believe in "smaller is better;" and you
see the ocean all polluted around you, stuff thrown overboard of

New Orleans06 Sep 2005 21:53 GMT9
Hi;
Any folks down near New Orleans?
I got a email from someone from the Army at USAISC-FT McPherson in Georgia
looking for boats and people...  (not sure they realize just how small my
More beginner questions: cadence and technique06 Sep 2005 14:42 GMT24
Many thanks for the helpful input on my previous questions, so maybe I can
ask another one:  what makes for a good paddling cadence?  I've spent some
time looking at the various videos showing the forward stroke at different
web sites, and they seem to show a very fast cadence ...
Late summer Allagash canoe trip05 Sep 2005 21:00 GMT1
Can anyone recommend a 3 to 4 day canoe trip on the Allagash?   We are
planning to do it towards the end of August next year.  For the past
couple of years, we have been paddling the Penobscot from Lobster Lake
to Umbazooksus Stream.  This is a great trip but we would like a change
Warding off senility05 Sep 2005 07:59 GMT19
I am going to be 70 years old in October, and I've been a widower for
about 1 year. Many years ago, when my children were very young, my
family enjoyed camping and lake canoeing. We were out paddling with
babies in diapers and while my wife was far along in various
River Braan Hydro Action needed NOW04 Sep 2005 11:54 GMT11
your help is needed NOW.  As some of you may know a planning
application
has gone into the Scottish Executive from npower for a small hydro
electric scheme on the river Braan, details below.  Consultation closes
US canoeing DVDs on Ebay UK03 Sep 2005 20:36 GMT2
No this is not an advert ....
I think DVDs may well be the way forward when it comes to observing canoeing
skills because you can select scenes very flexibly, quality doesn't degrade
as fast over time  - much better than video.
newbie advice on kayak type02 Sep 2005 22:35 GMT17
Hope you folks don't mind newbie questions here. I am a beginning
kayaker looking to go out for relatively short (2-3 hours) kayak trips
on mostly flat water ponds and lakes. I'm looking to buy a kayak that
is stable (as in unlikely to flip over in flat water), easy to maneuver
Delaware Water Gap02 Sep 2005 13:29 GMT2
We are planning a 3 day long canoe trip to the Delaware Water Gap on
the weekend of 9-12 Sept (one weekend after the Labor Day). We are
concerned that the area might be too crowded and the campsites all
full. Does anyone know how true our fears are?
