Source For Square Buckets for Canoe Storage Needed26 Jan 2006 13:41 GMT9
When I canoe I store lots of food in five gallon plastic buckets.  They are
inexpensive, work well and keep things pretty dry.  Unfortunately they are
usually round and it'd be a lot better use of space if I could locate some
square buckets.

irondale river ontario25 Jan 2006 18:14 GMT2
Anyone paddle the Irondale river in Ontario (Haliburton area)?  If so can
you give me a sense of the flow rate?  Is it ever too low to paddle without
walking half your trip?

Advice on the dangers of rafting on the Futaleufu24 Jan 2006 22:10 GMT2
I've rafted in Costa Rica twice before  - class 2, 3 and an occasional
4.  I'm looking at taking a trip in two months for my 50th birthday to
Patagonia Chile, however I am concerned about the dangers of the class
5 and class 5+ rapids. The tour provider says that many beginners do
Surf Ski vs OC1: Anybody Had A Chance To Compare?24 Jan 2006 01:19 GMT3
My surf ski is about 18" wide/19' long.
It's primary utility for me is the ability to surf non-breaking waves.
My problem with it is that I capsize fairly often and the ski almost invariably
comes out of the capsize right-side-up - so it's just a matter of time until I

Essential Kit20 Jan 2006 02:31 GMT21
With Christmas over and my mind turning more and more to trips outside the
protection of the Cromarty Firth I have began looking at some more kit that
I should purchase. I already have flares, map case, compass, GPS, paddle
leash.  After only an hour of paddling in a following 10 ...
Open water rowing17 Jan 2006 20:21 GMT2
Can anyone recommend a boat kit that would roughly be the equivalent of
the Alden Appledore 16?  I would like to maintain the option of
one/two-person sliding-seat rowing and sailing in open-water
conditions.

Questions on Canoeing Rio Grande10 Jan 2006 19:34 GMT6
I'm in the early stages of planning a canoe trip with my wife and a bunch of
friends for the lower Rio Grande.  The trip probably won't happen until the
autumn, but I'm looking into logistics right now.  We'll probably put in at
La Linda and take out at Dryden Crossing.  I have ...
NDK Problems?10 Jan 2006 14:57 GMT17
I was in contact with Rutabaga in WI about buying an NDK Explorer at their
Canoecopia this Spring, and was told by Megan P. that NDK might not be
making boats this year.  I did notice they weren't at their Door County/Lake
Michigan Symposium last summer.  Is this rumor material as ...
