| Cheapest usable boat | 31 Jul 2006 13:22 GMT | 10 |
What is the cheapest possible usable boat that you can buy? At least at first, I wouldn't be interested in serious boating. But if I had a small thing that I could take to the local canal and row up and down a bit it might be fun and good exercise. I have a young son and I think

| uk.rec.boats.paddle Newsgroup History | 30 Jul 2006 18:34 GMT | 8 |
I seem to be having a problem getting any more than a few (currently 2) days worth of messages on this newsgroup. Can anyone tell me whether they can see more than a couple of days worth. Currently it's so short a retension time that it's not really very useful.

I'm looking for a cheap canoe for fishing on local lakes. Primariliy two of us fishing (100# and 200#). Occasionally might have a third (150#) when crusing down rivers. I would like it to stay under $850, especially since this is my first canoe. There are a couple super cheap

| Kayak Storage outside | 28 Jul 2006 12:47 GMT | 7 |
Hi- I recently moved and have to store my kayaks (fiberglass) outside on the deck. Is there an inexpensive cover to protect them from the sun? I can see they're already having effects from too much heat and sun. Would a bed sheet be enough protection.

| What's been Happeining. | 28 Jul 2006 00:46 GMT | 11 |
Well as I had trouble with the news server on my new ISP I have been frequenting the UKRGB forum instead of this ng. Through the winter I managed to attend some pool sessions but didn't quite get my rolling sorted. I recently did a nice local trip in the touring boat, there's a ...

| straightening aluminum gunwales? | 25 Jul 2006 23:41 GMT | 2 |
I just found a very nice Shell Lake cartopper from the 50's or so. While I'm fixing 50 years of bumps, paint and "regrettable DIY," I was thinking of removing the gunwales to have them reformed and heat-treated. Alternatively, I was thinking of replacing all the metal with ...

I'm not sure of the situation regarding canoes, rivers, and permits in the UK, but I have heard of people doing river runs in canoes. Which are the most scenic and natural rivers in the UK, suitable for long canoe trips (if any)?

| Whitewater kayak for a big man | 22 Jul 2006 12:33 GMT | 9 |
I just finished a beginning kayaking course at NOC in Western NC and want to do more. I'd like to get a boat for river running with some playboat capabilities. My problem is that I'm 6'5", 240 lbs and was unable to fit in the standard boats that NOC had. I ended up using a
