| Looking for Joe Day | 30 Nov 2006 18:18 GMT | 1 |
I would like to get in touch with Joe Day - who was Scott Bristow's best friend. I understand he hasn't been around the group for a while, but am hoping someone knows how to get in touch with him. I can't remember his parents names...I Googled him, but didn't have any luck.

| Whitewater canoe for tripping? | 30 Nov 2006 02:15 GMT | 16 |
I posted a note a while back about the buyer's guide in Canoe and Kayak magazine, and the only response that I got said that whitewater solo canoes are not intended to carry the person and 100 pounds of gear, food, and water. I weigh 175 pounds, and sometimes need to carry water ...

| Dry Suit Seals: Shelf Life? | 27 Nov 2006 23:03 GMT | 3 |
Just bought a dry top. Nice piece of work. I like it. But I'm wondering about the seals, each of which is stamped "November 2004". Being 2 years old already, are these things on their last legs right out of the

| just watched the DVD from Canoe Kayak mag | 27 Nov 2006 16:51 GMT | 1 |
The video has pretty cool, Vietnam, getting flushed down a toilet, the dreadlocks guy practicing for flipping over. But I'm someone that doesn't own a kayak or a canoe. I've only rented a canoe.

| "personal" EPIRBs? | 27 Nov 2006 14:16 GMT | 1 |
I've been watching as the EPIRBs keep getting more sophisticated and smaller. Now I see "personal" EPIRBs offered. These are small enough to wear on your life vest. Since I kayak and sail small boats in the waters off Oahu, I was thinking it might not be a bad idea to get one. ...

| explain | 25 Nov 2006 22:32 GMT | 2 |
I'm translating 5 Star Test doc into Danish. Please explain "the effect of relief" - my dictionary doesn't help me in figuring out if it means a raise, a drop or variation in barometric pressure (that I believe it's got to do with)

| Reliable Strobe? | 19 Nov 2006 01:31 GMT | 5 |
I just had my third one fail. Water in the first two. This one seems like the external switch is jamming with sand. Anybody got something that's been good to them for a couple years?

| Heavy anchor for canoe? | 17 Nov 2006 16:16 GMT | 36 |
Howdy! I'm considering a heavy anchor (perhaps 6.5 lbs or heavier) such that if --for example-- my partner gets tired in heavy wind I can have the canoe stay put while she rests. Or if I must abandon the flooded canoe

| Glued/Taped FarmerJohn For Tall Person? | 16 Nov 2006 09:04 GMT | 15 |
I'm looking for something that I can wear with a dry top to give a semi-drysuit effect. Are there johns that are specific to that use (e.g. maybe with something in the waist/hip area that helps the top's waist gasket seal better)? Farmer johns, of course, are a dime a dozen...

| Dry Top With Front-Zip John? | 15 Nov 2006 22:50 GMT | 2 |
Been trying to find a long farmer john with no zippers, but not having much luck. Only reason I'm looking for zipperless is that it seems to me like a front zipper might raise a couple of issues when paddling:
