SealSaver vs 303?31 Dec 2006 16:34 GMT1
Somewhere I read a claim that silicone-based products (e.g. SealSaver)  can make
dry suit seals last longer than non-silicone-based products (e.g. 303?)
I've always used 303 - mainly because it's readily available at any automotive
store and because it sprays on.
Drysuit Fabrics, Goretex vs Whatever30 Dec 2006 22:54 GMT10
Seems like many people are interested in drysuits this month.
Hopefully I can troll for discussion about breathable fabrics.
Kokatat still uses Goretex in most of their drysuits, except
a semi-drysuit with Tropos.  I don't know if they have switched
Kokatat Dry Suit Neck Seal Replacement?28 Dec 2006 13:26 GMT14
Anybody done one of these?
On previous dry suits it's been pretty easy: 20-30 little magnets, lay the neck
on a flat steel surface - like the hood of a car - mate the gasket and the neck
material using the magnets to hold them together with some Kotol/AquaSeal as
Dry Suit Gasket Replacement: AquaSeal vs GE Silicione Adhesive?28 Dec 2006 00:57 GMT3
I've always used AquaSeal and usually with a little Cotol to speed it up.
But every so often I have a partial tube of GE's clear silicone adhesive laying
around and I'm wondering if anybody's used the stuff to do a neck seal.
Seems like a pretty good adhesive for other purposes.

Length of boat or ww boat characteristic?22 Dec 2006 02:42 GMT15
I am a newbie and have mostly been paddling a long plastic boat on flat
water, but recently I got to try out a few ww boats and have a basic
question. My long boat of course coasts in a straight line when I stop
paddling. To me it seems the ww boats ride up on their bow wave so that

Felt-Soled Booties18 Dec 2006 20:15 GMT2
Does anyone know of anyone selling felt-soled booties?
I bought my last pair from NRS, but they no longer sell the bootie, just the
shoe with a felt sole.
OT?  Name Of Braid?16 Dec 2006 10:37 GMT3
Can anybody put a name on this braid?
It makes a particularly comfortable carrying handle, and I'd like to Google it
to learn how to make a couple more for my boat.

Anyone lost a kayak lately?12 Dec 2006 23:29 GMT5
I found a Pyranha kayak on Ayr beach this morning.  If you think it might be
yours drop me a line.
Anyone know of any web forums where I could post the same message?

Removing mildew from gear?11 Dec 2006 23:12 GMT4
Hi all. Getting to be cold enough to need my favorite semi-dry jacket.
Turns out I'd left it in my front hatch all summer, and it's covered
with tiny mildew dots. It's a Patagonia, label says "hand wash only, no
bleach". Any great anti-mildew ideas to share? Thanks.........Bill
Bag Dry Suit: How Dry?09 Dec 2006 23:20 GMT8
I've been using a Kokatat GoreTex bag suit this year.
It's definitely got it's good points, but for my use dry doesn't seem tb one of
them.
After a typical hour of fairly hard flat water paddling, my shirt undergarment
Kayak Video; Which one to give for Christmas?09 Dec 2006 20:28 GMT3
I want to give a Neice and her fiancee a kayak video for Christmas and would
like some input.  I think they'd enjoy something with a lot of river
running, longer shots, less adolescent than many, less jarring, screaming
soundtrack, less hair and more solid III/IV runs.  They are ...
