Neoprene overcuffs?27 Feb 2007 18:21 GMT3
I was just wondering about the overcuffs that Kokatat and some others
seem to use to hide latex seals. Is there any proven advantage to
this? While it might be good in theory I sure don't remember anyone
here saying that it actually lengthened the lifespan of the seals.
We-no-nah canoes for tripping27 Feb 2007 13:24 GMT3
I'm advising an outfitter on some canoes for his livery, mostly for
class 1-2 tripping (4-8 day trips) and possibly some flatwater day
use. He is strongly leaning toward We-no-nah canoes, probably because
of shipping issues. However, I am not as familiar with their hulls as

graffiti to the map. Also, you can add a photo for each marker, fly to
Skeg on ww boat?25 Feb 2007 02:49 GMT14
Ok, here I am a lazy touring boat paddler now trying to paddle an old
ww boat. Once up to speed and given any excuse these boats want to
turn 180. Do people ever add skegs to ww boats when they have to
paddle them a fair distance upstream or on flatwater? Thanks.

Paddler Resource Site24 Feb 2007 04:36 GMT3
I've just finished putting together a database site where paddlers
(particularly in Canada - for now) can post and share launch locations.
There's also a forum (for those poor souls who don't understand the usenet).
Anyway, as I'm just getting started, I'd really appreciate it if ...

"Old school" ww boats23 Feb 2007 17:19 GMT11
Does this review pretty much sum up the situation for all older,
longer ww boats or are there a few that are still held in higher
regard? Thanks...

Some observations on the Hobie Mirage drive boats.23 Feb 2007 12:27 GMT4
After careful consideration, we decided that a Hobie tandem boat
equipped with the "Mirage drive" (a system whereby one propels the
boat with foot-actuated levers in a "Stair-master"-style motion) was
right for us.  Having used the boat for a few months, I suggest a few
Kayaking Basics - I'm Sore23 Feb 2007 00:22 GMT10
Took my first kayaking class last night in a pool. We used little
Dagger White Water kayaks, not sea kayaks. Learned wet escapes,
various paddle strokes, terminology, some safety things, and how to
roll. I can imagine things would be more difficult in the sea with
Christmas Paddle Trips?18 Feb 2007 14:39 GMT2
A buddy and I are talking about paddling somewhere warm for Christmas.
He has only one week available.  We would probably both fly rather than
drive, especially since we live 1000 miles apart.
So far I have considered the Baja, the Everglades, and Big Bend.  What
Roll class for sea kayakers?17 Feb 2007 13:16 GMT8
Looking through the local sports magazine (Boulder, Colorado), I see
lot's of "roll classes" for whitewater kayaks. Do sea kayakers need
this, too. I know what rolling is -- seems to me that if a sea kayak
is flipped  due to a wave or something, it'd be good to know how to
Newbie question, Baltic sea near Stockholm, which Kayak?13 Feb 2007 03:55 GMT13
Hi Folks, I just joined this group a few minutes ago. Rather than
search the postings, I'm going to ask a newbie question which has
probably been asked a million times....
What kayak should I buy?

I'm new to the group, and to paddling, and was wondering if anyone on
this list is located near Northwest Georgia. My wife and I are looking
for people to paddle with and learn from.
Thanks'
