Drysuits27 Aug 2007 12:55 GMT9
I am looking to purchase new, a drysuit for kayaking this winter.
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Does anyone know any local stores that sell drysuits specifically for
kayaking? If not, any good Canadian stores that are online?
Better for a Straits tour: Seda Glider or Valley Pintail? : )27 Aug 2007 02:21 GMT15
I haven't done a seakayak tour before, though I've paddled quite a bit
for decades. But I'm going to do a modest one with short legs up at
the Straits of Mackinaw, Michigan, next week.
I own a Seda Glider (a woodstrip version of one, anyway) and have been

I'm making last minute plans for an overnight canoe or kayak trip. I
don't own dry bags yet. Does anyone have any suggestions for using heavy
garbage bags or other plastic sheeting to keep clothing and sleeping
bags dry? I'm just looking to get through this trip and get some more ...
TR: Truckee River near Nevada line22 Aug 2007 21:45 GMT5
This was a bad year for snowpack in California, so we have already been
reduced to running dam-release rivers.  But even bad years can be good.
This year we finally boated the Truckee.  Nice!  Pictures here:

Feedback on my homebrew roofrack18 Aug 2007 05:04 GMT23
After many trips on rental boats, we finally purchased a used Pamlico
160T, which was our favorite of all of the boats that we rented.  The
Phase3 seats are sure comfy.  We plan to use it on flat water (lakes)
and calm rivers.
lightweight, abrasion-resistant canoe?17 Aug 2007 13:21 GMT11
Is it possible to find a lightweight tandem canoe (~50 lbs) that is
also reasonably abrasion-resistant? We paddle in flatwater conditions,
but we scratch rocks with the bottom a lot - e.g. paddling in High
Sierra lakes. They say Kevlar is abrasion-sensitive, but exactly how

The past couple of times I went Kayaking it was extremely tough to
break down my CF Sting Ray paddle.
What is safe to use on it to lubricate where the paddle seperates?

Homebrew Kayak Trailer for Bicycle08 Aug 2007 21:59 GMT6
Just thought that some people here might find this interesting.  I
wrote up a description, with pictures, of how I converted a child
trailer to carry my (16' tandem) kayak to the lake by bicycle.
