I've thought it about it that way, but the plug works like the cap on an empty plastic bottle: Take it out and you can crush it. So my new kayak was bent when I forgot to put the plug and we sat on the wrong place. Luckily the dealer gave us the right advice, which is

I've got a situation where I walk like 3 blocks on pavement and 1/2 block on sand, but the soft sand is a pain. So I deflated the tires, and while there's more resistance on pavement, they do ride better on sand --somewhat better. I've got a dolly similar to Roleez regular

Well, I have a polyethylene canoe which is nearly "maintenance free." But now buying a larger boat, the Old Town website recommends RINSING OFF SALT WATER after every use. Gee, that's too much work! It's unloading and loading all the gear (heavy battery!) that scares me.

I'm going on an extended car camping trip in the Canadian Maritimes, carrying two kayaks on the roof. We'll probably be storing some of the lighter gear in the kayaks (sleeping bags, pillows, life jackets, etc.), due to limited trunk room in the car.
