I have one of the old coleman inflatable kayaks. These came highly recommended by a friend for a ultra cheap usable boat. last time out I was dragging it across some grass and snagged a hole in it. Is it really worth patching? Is there a home brew patching method that works

I am new to kayaking. I built and paddle a Pygmy Osprey. What is the preferred seating position? Specifically, should my knees be in contact with the underside of the deck. I tried this and one of my feet went numb.
