| We lost a paddler yesterday | 13 Nov 2009 01:15 GMT | 5 |
My good friend Ken Alcorn passed away yesterday 11/7/2009. I am mourning his loss. I wish nothing more right now than that I could bring him a cold frosty beer and sit with him in front of a roaring warm campfire.

| Deso/Gray | 04 Nov 2009 15:27 GMT | 1 |
Its a bit embarassing to post this, but some friends have asked me to arrange a private Deso/Gray trip for this summer if possible. Once upon a time, I would instantly know outfitters, shuttle drivers, gear whores, cooks, etc for pretty much any stretch of river in the

| Paddling in the rain | 04 Nov 2009 15:15 GMT | 13 |
I've spent many a fine time in my kayak with a touring sprayskirt and a hooded rain top and stayed completely dry. The rain often discourages any other boaters. Often just a stiff breeze is all that is needed to blow all the canoeists over to one side, but rain

| One of our own was in an illustrated article in the curreint issue of American Whitewater | 04 Nov 2009 01:23 GMT | 3 |
Bill Tuthill from the Pacific Northwest, if I remember correctly (I threw away the mag after reading it, so I cannot now doublecheck). The nicely illustrated story was of him and his buddy duckying the Yampa and another desert stream (maybe the Delores?) in the Rocky
